Based on the DNA double helix, the artist provided a small bronze casting of the original piece. Using this maquette, Zahner® created a cloud map of the surface geometry, and was able to unfold the forms and translate them into flat objects, which were then cut on CNC equipment. The components were then assembled, welded and polished to create a seamless surface.
